Certificate of Proficiency in Pacific Nutrition: Train the Trainer
Primarily for Pacific workers. Open to those working with Pacific communities who are able to advise, support and train others in making healthy food choices. Level 4, 15 credits AUT course, 3 modules over 9 days. Module 2 covers how the heart works.

Christchurch Cardiac Companions
Regular guest speakers on heart health and related topics. Peer group support and occasional social outings and events. Support of heart patients in need of financial help. A visiting and transport service for heart patients. Supervised weekly exercise programme and walks: Burwood Hospital pool - aerobic exercises at 7.15pm on Mondays & Wednesdays. The pool is open from shortly after 7pm for a lot of social chat prior. There is a gym aerobic exercise on Mondays at Burwood Hospital from 7.30pm. Friday morning from 10am - 11am is a gym aerobics class at Avonhead Baptist Church Hall - still held in Level 2. Annual subscription: $10 single / $15 includes companion + $3pp per session. The Sunday walking group is held every second Sunday. Phase III

Dunedin Hospital - Exercise Programme
An 8-week exercise programme for cardiac patients after a recent heart event or intervention. Supervision provided by a nurse and physiotherapist. Referral is post recent cardiac surgery or with approval of patient’s cardiologist. Free. Phase II.

EPR Clinic Exercise Rehabilitation
Highly-trained and experienced Clinical Exercise physiologists provide exercise assessment, prescription and programs along with nutritional support to help those living with heart disease rehabilitate and reach their full potential. We have 4 locations across South Auckland; Pokeno, Tuakau, Pukekohe and Flat bush. We offer flexible one on one, group, homebased or over the phone services to suit your schedule and budget. Phase III.


Gisborne Cardiac Support Group
Weekly gentle/moderate aerobic session led by an exercise instructor. Occasional guest speakers and social outings. Peer group support. Held every Tuesday morning 10.30-11.30, cost $3, morning tea provided. Phase III

It provides support and motivation to improve individual and whānau/family wellbeing through physical activity and lifestyle improvements. A healthier lifestyle adviser works with you to set achievable goals to increase your motivation to be more active. Your healthy lifestyle adviser can provide you with resources and advice about eating well, physical activity and general wellbeing. The Sport Hawke’s Bay GRx team provides motivation, assistance and guidance to those wishing to become more active and healthy. They will help you get started and set up a plan to help you get active, whether you are new or returning to physical activity. This can be done at our welcome session, over the telephone or at an arranged one on one session.
