HeartWorks Cardiac Rehabilitation Clinic is a dynamic, safe and professionally supervised cardiac rehabilitation service based on advanced World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines. Exercise with confidence in a group setting and then progress to exercising in our clinic. Cardiac events can knock your confidence especially when it comes to getting out and exercising. The HeartWorks programme provides a safe and controlled environment for you to resume physical activity within and re-build to feel healthier, stronger and more in-control post diagnosis and/or intervention. Enrol in a 12 week block which includes 2 x 60min exercise sessions per week, regular educational sessions & reports to GP & Cardiologist for $1,350.

Hibiscus Heartbeats

Community-based heart education and rehabilitation support group for heart event survivors, people with heart disease and heart-related issues, their partners, family and whanau. The group offers peer-support, individual-directed assistance and information with a vision of 'sharing the journey with those who are on the same path'. We have guest speakers from the healthcare sector: Doctors, Cardiologists, Pharmacists, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Cardiac Rehabilitation specialists, and provide network referrals to heart healthcare professionals in the local community. Our vision is to save lives through better community education on heart disease and improve the lives of those already living with heart disease. Meets first Tuesday of each month, 10:00am – 11:00am, free.

Nelson: CPR and AED training

The Heart Foundation and Resus Nelson have teamed up to offer regular practical training sessions on CPR and the use of Automated Emergency Defibrillators (AED). This hands-on course is designed to help you develop the skills and confidence required in an emergency situation. It is a small group session, run in a relaxed and safe learning environment. Sessions are offered as required. Cost is a gold coin donation. Bookings are essential as numbers will be limited.
